How does HeyJerni protect my financial data?

Your records are stored only on your iPhone, in a database encrypted with AES-256 (SQLCipher). There are no accounts, and no server of ours ever receives your expense data. All AI processing happens on-device.

Does HeyJerni connect to my bank?

No. There is no bank login and no feed. Expenses come from receipts you scan, what you say, Apple Pay taps logged by a Shortcuts automation on your phone, and PDF statements you export from your bank app and share in yourself.

Do I need to download the AI model? How big is it?

Yes — a one-time download of about 1.3 GB enables receipt reading and Ask HeyJerni. We recommend WiFi. After that, all AI features work completely offline.

Does the app work without internet?

Yes. After the initial AI model download, everything — scanning, categorising, asking questions — runs on your device without internet. Only ads (in the free version) need a connection.

What iPhone do I need?

HeyJerni requires iOS 16.4 or later. For the smoothest on-device AI, we recommend iPhone 12 or newer.

Is HeyJerni free? Are there ads?

The full app is free with a small banner ad and an occasional interstitial, and no subscription is required to use any feature. A one-time purchase removes all ads forever. There are also optional monthly support tiers; they remove ads too and unlock the Accountant Pack export, and your first export is free. Your local price is shown in the App Store.

Can I back up my data?

Yes, two ways. Turn on iCloud backup in Settings and your records are saved to your own iCloud Drive once a day; each receipt image is sent once. It is off until you turn it on, and it goes to your iCloud, never to us. Or export a full backup archive by hand, with your records and every receipt image, and keep it anywhere you trust. Either one restores everything on a new iPhone.

Which languages does it support?

The app is in English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese, and follows the language you choose in it. Voice entry understands English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
