Privacy Policy
HeyJerni has no accounts and no servers that receive your records: your expenses, receipts, trips and questions stay on your iPhone, and nothing you record is ever sent to us. The few things that do leave the phone, and where they go, are listed below.

What stays on your iPhone
- No account or sign-up, so the app does not know who you are, and we add no analytics or usage tracking.
- Records are kept in a database encrypted with AES-256 (SQLCipher); receipt photos are in the app's private storage.
- Receipts are read, expenses filed and your questions answered by an AI model downloaded to the phone, with Apple's Vision framework.
- Voice: what you say is turned into text on the phone. The recording is not kept.
- Car trips: location is used only while a drive you started is recording. The route and distance stay on the phone.
- Apple Pay auto-log: when you tap to pay, Wallet passes the amount and merchant to a Shortcuts automation on your phone, which hands them to HeyJerni. No server is involved.
- PDF statements you share in are read on the phone and never uploaded.
- Widgets, if you add them, show your subscription total and drive kilometres on the Home or Lock Screen, so anyone who can see your screen can see those figures.
What leaves your iPhone
- Place search, route distances and place names come from Apple Maps, so a search or a location is sent to Apple, as with any app that uses Apple Maps.
- Backups go only where you put them: an archive you export by hand, or, if you turn it on, a daily copy in your own iCloud Drive, protected by your Apple Account. You can see and delete it in the Files app.
Advertising (free version)
The free version shows a small banner ad and an occasional interstitial, served by Google AdMob. Ads are non-personalised: HeyJerni never asks for iOS tracking permission and never shares your identity or financial data with Google, because it has neither.
To serve and measure ads, Google receives standard technical information from your device, such as your IP address and device model, under Google's own privacy policy. Once ads are removed, by Remove Ads or a support tier, the app makes no ad requests at all.
How Google uses information from apps that use its services →Purchases
Remove Ads and the monthly support tiers are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, payment details or Apple ID; the app only learns whether a purchase or subscription is active.
Your control
We hold no data about you, so there is nothing for us to hand over or delete. The controls are on your phone:
- Export at any time: the backup archive is always free; the Accountant Pack (PDF, CSV, logbook and receipt images) is free for the first export, then needs a monthly support tier.
- Erase everything from Settings, or by deleting the app.
- View and edit any record at any time.
