Our Privacy Commitment
HeyJerni is built on a simple principle: your financial records belong to you and only you. The app is designed so that your expenses, receipts and questions never leave your iPhone.
This is architecture, not just policy. HeyJerni has no user accounts and no servers that receive your financial data. The AI that reads your receipts and answers your questions runs entirely on your device.
Your Financial Data
We do not collect, receive or store your financial data. Ever.
- No account or sign-up — we don't know who you are
- Expenses, receipts and categories never leave your device
- Questions you ask HeyJerni are answered on-device
- No analytics or usage tracking added by us
On-Device AI
All AI features run entirely on your iPhone using a locally downloaded model and Apple's Vision framework. This includes:
- Reading amounts, merchants and dates from receipt photos
- Suggesting expense categories
- Answering your questions about your own spending
Data Storage
Your records are stored locally on your iPhone in a database encrypted with AES-256 (SQLCipher). Receipt photos are stored in the app's private storage. This means:
- Your data is encrypted at rest on your device
- Only you can access it — there is no server copy
- Backups are files you create and keep yourself, wherever you choose (e.g. the Files app or your own iCloud Drive)
Advertising (Free Version)
The free version of HeyJerni shows a small banner ad and an occasional interstitial, served by Google AdMob. We have configured ads to be non-personalised: HeyJerni never requests iOS tracking permission and never shares your identity or your financial data with Google — it has neither.
To serve and measure ads, Google receives standard technical information from your device, such as your IP address and device model. This is handled under Google's own privacy policy. Purchasing Remove Ads disables the ad SDK entirely — no ad requests are made at all.
How Google uses information from apps that use its services →Purchases
The Remove Ads purchase is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, payment details or Apple ID. The app only learns one thing: whether the purchase is active for your account.
Your Rights & Control
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to hand over or delete on your behalf — you already have complete control on your device:
- Export everything anytime — a full backup archive or a financial-year Tax Pack (PDF + CSV + receipts)
- Erase everything instantly from Settings, or by deleting the app
- View and edit any record at any time
