Is HeyJerni a Dext alternative?
For a sole trader or employee tracking their own deductible expenses, yes. For a business that needs receipts pushed into accounting software with an accountant on the other end, no. That is what Dext is for, and HeyJerni does not integrate with Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks.
What happened to Receipt Bank?
Receipt Bank rebranded to Dext in 2021. The product is the same data-capture service.
Does Dext work without an accountant?
It can, but the pricing and the workflow assume a ledger on the other side. If you only need records for a personal tax return, a receipt scanner that stores records locally is enough.
Can HeyJerni do GST or BAS?
No. HeyJerni records the amount, merchant, date, category and work-use share. It does not split GST or prepare a BAS. If you are registered for GST, keep using accounting software.
Can I give HeyJerni records to my accountant?
Yes. HeyJerni exports a financial-year summary with a CSV and the receipt images, which an accountant can work from. It does not sync into their software.
